The mudslide is coming, I am so desperate to protect your heart, which is the heart of the betel nut.
The industry of the betel nuts in Taiwan fell with the mudslide in the 1980s. I found the industry of betel nuts in Taiwan and my childhood are highly relevant, just like floating on the endless river and a bunch of questions would never have an answer. Is that all I can do is nothing but Pray to god?
CONCEPT
This film is inspired by my grandmother’s betel nut stand. Expressing the mood of the lonely little boy, telling the feeling when I was little and the environmental issues in Taiwan.
Poem
Betel nuts are green
But they turn out to be red after people spitted them out
Why is that?

Why is that, there’s only few customers today. While there’s more of them yesterday

Why is that, those customers all want to touch mommy?
Why is mommy keep smoking cigarette?(Why can’t mom stop smoking cigarette?)

Why is that, my Barbie can’t turn into a real person?
Why is that, when uncle is so mad with mommy, they still end up to be sleeping together?
Mommy said I have nothing similar with dad

Why is that
Betel nuts are green. But they turn out to be red after being spitted out.

The green bush, which red flowers in it
The red apple, with green worms in it
The color green doesn’t have a bit red in it
Between mommy and dad, is there any bit of me?

“Why is this? Why is that?”
I asked mom a million questions.
She said that all of these decisions are made by god.
Am I also a decision that’s made by god?
But why is that?
